All about vitamins and their benefits

 

   There are 6 important nutrients that are present in the food. They are carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals, vitamins and water. These nutrients are absorbed into the body through digestive system. The food will be broken down to the simpler compounds by enzymatic reactions thus facilitating their absorption. Once absorbed from the digestive system these nutrients are circulated in the body through blood. As far as vitamins are concerned the fat-soluble vitamins are stored in the body for the use at the time of requirement. Vitamins are important component of the food that is required for various chemical reactions that happen in the body of the human being. Vitamins are "vital" amines. As the name suggests vitamins are very vital for our life. We have to get sufficient quantity of vitamins from our food and supplements.   

 
 

   The vitamins make the people feel more energetic. The vitamins also help body for its normal functions. Vitamins are very essential for well-being, growth and vitality of our body. Vitamins do not have any energy value. But when vitamins are consumed along with our daily food, they help to balance the deficiency of the diet if the food is over cooked or if the food is not nutritive or if there are were any improper eating habits. At times vitamins are used as medicines to treat the diseases that are caused by the deficiency of the vitamins. There are two types of vitamins. They are fat-soluble vitamin and water-soluble vitamins. Vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, and vitamin K are fat-soluble vitamins. Vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and vitamin C are water-soluble vitamins.

   Vitamin A- this vitamin is important for effective functioning of the eye. Its deficiency may lead to night blindness and other vision related problems. Vitamin D- this vitamin is essential for the formation of bones. Its deficiency will result in disease called rickets. Vitamin E- this vitamin serves as anti oxidant. Vitamin K - this vitamin plays important role in blood clotting. Vitamin B1 - the deficiency of this vitamin will result in a disease called beri beri. Vitamin B2- This vitamin is important for the proper functioning of the nerves. Vitamin B12 - the deficiency of this vitamin will lead to anemia. As per the research paper submitted by Nobel Prize winner Louis Ignarro, the vitamins when combined with exercise, offers synergistic effect on the health of the heart. Hence vitamins are very essential and cannot be replaced by any other nutrient.
