Harmful side effects of creatine

If you have been going to the gym regularly there is no way you could have missed the buzz on Creatine. The drug that is supposedly giving guys all over the world huge bodies in no time at all. Don’t get mislead by the hype. There’s much more to building a big body then taking a lot of supplements and some wonder drug. Work out, eat well, and rest a lot, that is the secret of body building. But don’t be mislead by those who say that there are harmful side effects of creatine. The truth is that if taken in prescribed doses Creatine will not harm your body, in fact it will just aide in muscle growth.

Extensive experiments have been performed to prove that Creatine is not as bad as it is maligned. The only documented side effect of Creatine was increase body mass, and that is something that every body builder covets. Yes Creatine does cause water retention in the muscles, but that is not a cause for alarm. The only effect it will have on your body is to make your muscles seem bigger. Is that a bad thing? Just remember to see the box and take Creatine in the recommended dose and trust me there will be no harmful side effects of creatine.

Body builders who take Creatine have reported that they have more energy and power. They are able to lift heavier weights and feel lesser fatigue. This is a key factor in giving you more muscle mass. Although there are some people who say that Creatine interferes with the heart or with the Kidney, there is no evidence to substantiate that claim. Right now it is safe to assume that Creatine is safe. Creatine is safe to take with many drugs too. In fact you can even take it alongside rev diet pill if your physician allows it. Do check to make sure you are not allergic to this combination first though...

My 13 year old son has been advised that Creatine is an ideal supplement to take for the sport of Motocross. He needs to build his arm muscles because he is riding an adult bike. Therefore is is safe to take for a 13 year old? Also he suffers from arm pump whilst riding therefore will Creatine make this worse?

I have been doing research on creatine via the internet. I contacted a health food store that sells this product and she is saying that it causes liver damage, kidney , and heart trouble. But in the same breath she said if you take this product as per manufacture specs it is all right and if you quit creatine you need to slowly decrease. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

For Adrian : Many people consider that creatine helps built up muscle mass and in the same time greatly improves athletic performances. While there is, a large numbers of people that use creatine for different purposes, research results are quite different highlighting dissimilar features of this drug. Thus, most often scientific studies conducted on this drug have quite opposite results the only conclusion that seems to be common is the fact that creatine is not recommended to be used for a long period of time in aerobic activities or sports. To this day, the long term effects of creatine have not been discovered therefore, doctors do not recommend the use of creatine supplements especially by teenagers (their bodies are still developing, growing). Since health, risks are not yet fully understand children under 18 and pregnant women should not use these supplements. If you suffer from any, heart, kidney, liver, brain etc disorders you should strongly reconsider before using creatine because doctors are not yet sure how it will affect your body. In conclusion, if you suffer from kidney problems and want to take creatine supplements you should definitely consult your family doctor before starting to use them.

For Paul Burke : Creatine is widely used mainly for muscle growth and as long as you take this drug as prescribed by doctor or if you follow the instructions written on the box you should be fine. Creatine side effects are dehydration, diarrhea, muscle cramps and nausea. Even though many studies were conducted none of them has shown that creatine may cause liver, kidney and heart damage. Despite this, people suffering from different kidney or heart disorders should consult the doctor before taking creatine. Creatine may cause renal stress at those that suffer from kidney or renal disorders. Because long term effects of creatine are still not known it is always better to consult a doctor before taking it or to follow the instruction provided by the manufacturer. If you have been taking creatine and you want to quit you do not have to worry because your body will naturally eliminate the drug within 3-4 days. After you stop taking creatine you will notice that your body will become slimmer you will loose muscle mass.

For Tracey Bennett:Because nobody knows creatine’s long term effects doctors say it is better to postpone taking this drug until puberty. Doctors believe that children should not take creatine mainly because their bodies are still developing, growing and since long term effects are not know yet, nobody can guaranty a safe usage of this drug. Taking in consideration that extreme mechanical stress may have harmful consequences on the skeletal frame which is rapidly growing at children creatine should not be used until puberty. Therefore if negative effects of creatine do exists then the younger the person who starts to take this drug is the greater the chances to manifest adverse consequences are. Opinions on this subject may differ therefore it is better to consult a doctor or to research the internet for additional information. Anyway most doctors agree that children should not take creatine until they reach puberty.

I have only been taken creatine for about a month and i have seen good results. But my question is, like almost every other creatin user, is does creatine play a bad role on your kidneys, liver, or any other part of the body. I read somewhere that creatine may cause kidney stones. Is that true? Please respond ASAP. Thank you.
